Koraput: 25/06/2025 - A delegation of Christian leaders met with the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Southern Range, at his office in Koraput today, submitting a memorandum and demanding immediate action against those responsible for a recent attack on Christians in Malkangiri district.
The meeting comes in the wake of reports of violence against Christians in Malkangiri, particularly in Kotamateru village, where a mob allegedly assaulted individuals returning from church. Christian community leaders have asserted that the attacks were premeditated and aimed at pressuring them to convert, while police have reportedly suggested the incidents stemmed from family disputes.
The memorandum submitted to the DIG is understood to have detailed the nature of the attacks and urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, ensure the safety of the Christian community, and bring the perpetrators to justice without delay. The Christian leaders stressed the need for concrete measures to prevent similar incidents in the future and uphold religious freedom in the region.
